Our Story
Featherstone Safety is led by Thomas Featherstone, who spent eight years as an Ammunition Technician working in safety-critical environments where procedural discipline and hazard control were essential every day.
Holding the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and IOSH Managing Safely, Thomas founded Featherstone Safety to bring that same practical discipline to small businesses across the Cotswolds and Oxfordshire.
The goal? Helping businesses get the basics right, keep records organised, and work safely without wading through corporate-scale paperwork.

Professional background
Thomas Featherstone is the founder and lead consultant of Featherstone Safety. Before founding the business he spent eight years as a British Army Ammunition Technician, safety-critical work with ammunition and explosives where procedures are followed exactly, hazards are identified before work starts and controls are checked rather than assumed. That discipline shapes how Featherstone Safety works on every engagement, from a small business risk assessment to a major infrastructure project.
Energy infrastructure experience
Featherstone Safety has provided independent HSE advisory and observation support during two super grid transformer installations, working alongside HD Hyundai Electric and Collett Transport. The work covered heavy transport on a 550 tonne girder bridge system, SPMT movement, temporary support, jacking, skidding and final positioning, with daily safety reports and photographic records. - Diploma in Geology
- Management Certificate in Oil and Gas, Cambridge School of Leadership and Management
Thomas is currently studying towards the NEBOSH International Diploma, which is not yet awarded. The geology diploma provides technical knowledge of geological processes, earth materials and the physical environment, and the oil and gas certificate provides sector-specific management education. Neither is presented as operational mining or oil and gas experience.
