Project experience
Energy infrastructure
Independent HSE advisory, contractor assurance and ISO 45001 support for transmission, substation and major electrical equipment projects. Backed by two super grid transformer installations.

Industries
Supporting complex engineering and industrial operations through independent health and safety advisory services, contractor assurance and ISO management-system consultancy.
This part of the site is for people who buy specialist health and safety support for substantial projects and operations, rather than routine compliance. Typically that means HSE directors and group HSE managers, project and engineering directors, construction and operations managers, procurement and supply chain teams assessing a supplier, and managing directors of specialist engineering contractors.
What these buyers usually need is not more paperwork. It is a competent, independent view of how work is being planned and carried out, a management system that stands up to client and certification scrutiny, and a clear record of what was reviewed, observed and raised.
The specialist positioning rests on real project work. Featherstone Safety has provided independent HSE advisory and observation support during two super grid transformer installations, working alongside HD Hyundai Electric and Collett Transport. After the first installation, we were requested to return for the second.

First engagement
Independent advisory and observation support through delivery, transfer on a 550 tonne girder bridge transport system, skidding and final positioning.

Repeat appointment
Advisory support through heavy transport, temporary support, SPMT movement, skidding and hydraulic lowering, with daily safety reports and photographic records.
Both engagements were alongside HD Hyundai Electric and Collett Transport. Featherstone Safety observed and advised. It did not plan, direct or control the operations. Client, site and programme details are withheld.
Where a piece of work needs expertise outside our competence, such as engineering design, geotechnical assessment, occupational hygiene monitoring or electrical system safety, we say so at the scoping stage so that an appropriately qualified specialist can be engaged.
Look for recognised health and safety qualifications and professional membership, for example NEBOSH qualifications and IOSH membership, and check what they actually are rather than accepting a list of letters. Then look for direct experience of comparable work, evidence such as case studies or references, and a consultant who is clear about the limits of their role and competence. On specialist projects, ask how the consultant would handle questions outside their expertise. A good answer names the type of specialist needed rather than claiming to cover everything.
Yes. Specialist project support is available across the UK by arrangement, with travel and attendance agreed as part of the scope. Featherstone Safety is based in Oxfordshire. ISO consultancy can be delivered remotely, on site, or as a mix of both.
No. Featherstone Safety is an independent consultancy. Certification to ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 is awarded by a certification body, ideally one accredited by UKAS. We help organisations build and prepare their management systems, and we do not issue certificates.
No, unless that is expressly agreed in writing, which is unusual for the advisory work described here. Statutory duties remain with the client, designers, principal contractor, employers and other dutyholders. Independent advisory support helps those dutyholders manage their responsibilities. It does not transfer them.
